Primary & Boarding School

Providing our children with a safe place to live while getting the highest quality education

With our primary school we will be able to offer schooling for over 300 students from preschool up to primary 7.

The day school is for children with guardians living in the area (we promote children to stay with a grandmother or in similar home environment when the possibility exists) and for our youngest children who live in the mama houses (see next slide). The remaining students will stay with us in boys and girls hostels.

The school will adhere to a mix of international and local curriculums, with competent and engaged teachers providing children the best education and the possibility to advance to higher education after secondary school.

The school will offer different extracurricular activities for the children’s free time and promote innovation, curiosity and sport.

Our ambition is that our school will be top 10% of the schools in Uganda.

Family (Mama) Homes

A safe place for our youngest

We firmly believe that very young children shall grow up in a family environment with a caring parent. Lately we have welcomed children in our foundation as young as 4 years.

For our orphans up to 8 years we want to offer homes in a separate house with a caring woman who will raise them as a family, teach them behaviours and hygiene, but not least give them love and care.

As part of the Aurora Project, we want to build 2 mama homes, each with room for up to 8-10 children.

Vocational Programs and Secondary Education

Finding a sustainable way of living for all

For students who are unable to enter higher academic studies, we will offer vocational trainings such as tailoring, hairdressing, catering, construction etc., on our site and with partners. This will also provide opportunities to teenage mothers and young adults who have dropped out of school, to receive skills for future work opportunities.

We intend to partner up with companies and organisations to offer children internships and training.

For secondary education (senior 1-6), we have partnered up with two secondary schools for our children to join. School fees will be covered through membership fees of the children’s individual sponsors.

Mary's Garden: Food Program and Eco Farming

Sustainably providing the Aurora Operations with Food

Our land is already providing us with food! The farming land will be 1 acre of the plot and we are growing corn, cassava, matoke, sweet potato, tomatoes, avocado and more.

We want to grow our own food in a sustainable manner and to teach our children and the community around us about sustainable farming.

The name “Mary’s garden” is in honor of our girl Mary, a two-year old girl who we found in a very poor condition. Despite our attempts to save her life, she passed away last year from pneumonia and malnutrition in combination with HIV.

Community Outreach Programs

Finding a sustainable way of living for all

Access to healthcare for marginalised people in Uganda is a huge problem. Children die from diarrhea, malaria and other treatable diseases due to lack of affordable and accessible health clinics in rural areas.

Uganda has a routine immunization schedule for children, however the knowledge is low and the vaccine is inaccessible for people outside the cities. By strengthening immunization services child health will improve. We have partnered up with other NGO’s providing services such as HIV-testing and counselling and we want our clinic to offer and support with:

• Vaccination for children

• HIV-testing and counselling

• Family planning and reproductive health

•Nutrition program
